(Yicai Global) Nov. 28 -- The Daxing District People's Court in Beijing issued the verdict on a case JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] filed against O2O Jie (Beijing) Technology Co. for infringing on its right to reputation, ordering the defendant to pay USD45,500 (CNY300,000) and post its apology on its social media accounts for three days in a row for releasing articles that intentionally distorted facts and defamed JD.com, Jiemian News reported.

After hearing the case over the course of more than a year, the court affirmed that eight articles posted by O20 Jie intended to distort the facts and slander and insult JD.com, and infringed upon its right to reputation.

JD.com said that false information in these articles had extremely negative impacts on it and severely encroached on its right to reputation after they were quoted and reposted by a host of media and individuals and circulated extensively online, harming JD.com's status and costing it economically.

The court ordered O20 Jie to compensate JD.com CNY300,000 and post apologies to JD.com in the prominent area of the first page on O20 Jie Media, EMBA, O20 Jie Technology, E-commerce Tips, E-commerce Tips' official WeChat account, Commercial Internet, E-commerce Internet, O2O Jie, E-commerce Insight and E-commerce New Vision for three consecutive days to rebuild JD.com's reputation.
