(Yicai Global) July 20 -- Tang Zhenyi, former chief executive officer of Credit Suisse China, is to join SenseTime as vice president, the Paper reported, citing the Chinese artificial intelligence unicorn.
Tang had headed up the Swiss bank’s China operations since June 2019, before which he chaired CLSA, a brokerage of Citic Securities. Tang also spent 10 years at China’s finance ministry, during which time he was made the country’s executive director at the World Bank.
SenseTime, which has developed the world’s top-level deep learning platform and supercomputing center, and released leading AI technologies, secured USD620 million in a Series C+ financing round in May 2018, increasing its market value to more than USD4.5 billion.
The Beijing-based firm was founded in 2014 and thanks to its image and text recognition, video analysis and autonomous driving, the company is now Asia’s leading provider of AI algorithms.
