Ctrip's Gourmet List Will Encompass 150 World Cities This Year Ctrip's Gourmet List Will Encompass 150 World Cities This Year

(Yicai Global) March 27 -- The Gourmet List Shanghai-based online travel agency Ctrip.Com International Ltd. has developed will extend its restaurant reviews to cover 150 cities worldwide this year  and the company will unfurl its membership service system soon.

Gourmet List chief executive Liu Xiaozhou released the news at the press conference for this year's ranking of eateries Ctrip held in Shanghai yesterday. The list, which covers 120 popular destination cities -- 35 in China and 85 overseas -- rates 15,527 restaurants, he said, as Sina Technology reported.

Gourmet List struck a collaborative deal earlier this year with leading online US ordering platform OpenTable. This cooperation will help Ctrip improve its reservation service and pave the way for its member system. Ctrip is also discussing cooperation with other international ordering platforms, said Liu.

Ctrip unveiled its first Michelin-style restaurant rating system in China at the end of 2016. Its list recommends special restaurant to tourists and suggests other options at destinations from their perspective to help Chinese visitors better decide, said Liang Jianzhang, Ctrip's co-founder and board chairman. Many criticize the Michelin guide for not adopting a more Chinese culinary view.

Meituan-Dianping, China's leading life information service provider, introduced its Black Pearl Restaurant Guide earlier this year to compete with the Gourmet List. This inaugural edition highlights a total of 330 restaurants in 22 Chinese cities and in Tokyo, Paris, New York, Bangkok and Singapore.
