Devices Running on Huawei's HarmonyOS Exceed 66 Million(Yicai) June 15 -- The number of devices running on Huawei Technologies' proprietary operating system HarmonyOS has exceeded 66 million, highlighting that the ecosystem is taking root and growing, according to the Chinese tech giant's Executive Director Richard Yu.
Yu, who is also chairman and chief executive officer of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, disclosed the latest progress in the construction of the HarmonyOS ecosystem and unveiled the developer test version of HarmonyOS 7 at the Huawei Developer Conference, held from June 12 through yesterday.
The number of registered HarmonyOS developers has exceeded 11 million, the daily key user-side application programming interface calls have reached 300 billion times, and the number of HarmonyOS apps and services has exceeded 400,000, Yu pointed out.
The focus of Huawei's HarmonyOS ecosystem development, from developer recruitment to adapting applications, has been primarily on the Chinese market over the past few years, which has helped it set a foundation in a relatively short period of time, Yu said, but added that the system is also accelerating its overseas expansion.
The number of accessible HarmonyOS apps and meta-services overseas has exceeded 17,000, covering all aspects of daily life, Huawei said. For example, the latest version of leading accessibility app Be My Eyes has also been developed for HarmonyOS, while meta-services from well-known European brands such as soccer giant Real Madrid CF and Spanish department store chain El Corte Inglés have also been fully connected to the ecosystem.
Huawei has established ties with multiple developer communities in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, regularly hosting HarmonyOS ecosystem training camps and hackathons. For the company, globalization means not only hiking its user ranks, but also attracting more overseas developers, enterprise customers, and partners to participate in building the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
From establishing an ecosystem in China to going global, this will be the most important direction of focus for HarmonyOS in the coming years, according to Shenzhen-based Huawei.
