(Yicai Global) Sept. 27 – China's ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing hopes to introduce 1 million new energy vehicles in the country by 2020. Didi will make investment for the construction of electricity charging system ahead of the new energy vehicle (NEV) era, Cheng Wei, founder and CEO of Didi Chuxing, said at 2017 Global Energy Interconnection Forum yesterday.
NEVs will first be popularized in the public transport systems in the near future. Replacing traditional fuel vehicles with new energy vehicles in public transport systems will take priority and take place three to five years earlier than private vehicles. "The reason for this is mainly because the vehicles in public transport systems are used more frequently," Cheng added.
