(Yicai Global) Nov. 2 -- Dongxu Optoelectronic Technology Co. (DOT) [SHE:000413], an electronic component manufacturer based in China's northeastern Hebei province, has partnered with telecom equipment giant Huawei Technologies Co.'s subsidiary in Suzhou in southeastern Jiangsu province to jointly develop a new energy vehicle (NEV) charging business.

The partnership will encompass smart charging, power battery systems and vehicle networking products, DOT said yesterday. DOT will provide a new energy passenger vehicle platform, while Huawei's subsidiary will supply Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IOT) and other leading technologies.

DOT's new energy passenger vehicle platform will work with Huawei's team, which boasts extensive technical experience in batteries and battery management, to study methods to improve battery energy density and vehicle energy utilization rates, energy security and service life, DOT said.

Huawei is also a leading communication solutions provider in China, DOT noted, adding that the collaboration will expand to vehicle networking products, automated driving and smart cars to help advance information technology (IT) applications in the country's transport sector.

DOT plans to spend CNY3 billion (USD453.93 million) to take over Shanghai Shenlong Bus Co., which has researched and developed NEVs since 2005. The two companies have completed asset transfers under the deal, DOT said.
