(Yicai Global) July 9 -- Europe's Nouryon Holding will construct a factory in eastern China's Ningbo to produce two chemicals to accelerate the development of China's advanced polymer materials industry.

Nouryon will make tert-Butyl hydroperoxide and tert-Butyl alcohol, two intermediates used in its organic peroxides business, in the plant that should be complete in the second half of next year, the Amsterdam-based company said in a statement on July 8.

The new production facility will ensure that Nouryon can meet the ever-increasing demand for tBHP and tBA in Asia for years to come, said Johan Landfors, president of technology solutions. The annual capacity of the plant will be 35,000 tons of the two intermediates.

Nouryon was formed in October 2018 when Dutch paint giant Akzo Nobel spun off its specialty chemicals division. The independent company that makes chemicals used in paper, personal care items, and pharmaceuticals, has eight production bases in China.
