(Yicai Global) Aug. 16 -- Local and foreign experts and guests paid a visit to the Shanghai Museum to learn about the Chinese culture through an exhibition that covers three dynasties more than 2,000 years ago.

Students from six colleges and universities in Shanghai, members of expats club Shanghai Through Our Eyes, think tank experts, as well as Chinese and foreign journalists, visited the Making of China: the Civilizations of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties yesterday.

The exhibition is the first in the eastern museum's Essence of China series. It aims to inspire visitors to explore the origin of the Chinese civilization. The exhibition has almost 220 artifacts from nearly 90 archaeological sites, and 67 of them are considered first-grade national treasures. The collection can be seen at the museum till Oct. 23.

"I am so amazed to see so many cultural relics that are over 3,000 years old and so impressed by China’s ancient writing and techniques,” Daimon Kazuto, general manager of YKK China Investment, told Yicai Global.

The exhibition is very mind-blowing, said Maskay, a Nepalese volunteer in the team of the Shanghai Blood Center. He promised to recommend the exhibition to his family and friends.

One of the highlights of the collection includes a turquoise plaque with an animal pattern. No part of the decoration has been damaged despite its age exceeding 3,000 years.

Another animal-themed artifact is an owl-shaped wine vessel. The relic has the inscription Fu Hao, referring to the wife of King Wuding in the late Shang dynasty. It was discovered in the Fu Hao tomb in Anyang, central Henan province, inspiring respect for ancient bronzeware skills.
