(Yicai Global) Aug. 6 -- China's attractive sector of securities brokers helped the Shanghai Composite Index perform a last-minute jump to end the day with gains while selling pressures remained in other sectors.

The SSE Composite Index, which is heavy on financials, closed up 0.26 percent at 3,386.46. One of the sector's big caps, China Securities [SHA:601066], jumped to reach the daily 10-percent limit-up during the last hour of trading in the afternoon. 

The Star 50 Index, which tracks growth stocks on the SSE’s tech board, slid 0.93 percent to 1,573.87 after being more than 2 percent down earlier. 

The Shenzhen Component Index declined 0.7 percent to 13,863.13. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, fell 1.6 percent.
