Forbon Tech Plans Big Data Lab to Research Soil, Offer Agricultural Services Forbon Tech Plans Big Data Lab to Research Soil, Offer Agricultural Services

(Yicai Global) Jan. 15 -- China's Fubon Technology, which makes additives for fertilizer, is joining hands with a big data partner to build a soil research institute that can provide modern agricultural services for the plantation sector.

Fubon will invest CNY9 million (USD1.3 million) in the facility, to be built in Beijing, and Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance will chip in CNY1 million, Hubei province-based Forbon said in a statement yesterday.

The institute will provide solutions targeting problems with arable land, forest soils, desertification and the administration of industrially polluted lands, the statement added.

Shares in the company [SHE:300387] started today more than 2 percent higher but dwindled even faster than the Shenzhen benchmark, closing down 0.7 percent at CNY11.25 (USD1.63).

The lab will also use fifth-generation mobile networking technologies to improve data transmission from soil sensors and collect accurate, real-time data on soil nutrients, moisture and other crucial information; and use blockchain to resolve debt collection issues in farming.
