(Yicai) Jan. 6 -- China's southeastern province of Fujian will reward its top travel agencies with up to CNY600,000 (USD81,900) each to boost tourist arrivals from areas such as the special administrative region of Hong Kong and Taiwan province, as well as foreign countries.
Local travel agencies can receive between CNY400,000 and CNY600,000 in rewards, the provincial department of culture and tourism announced on WeChat yesterday. To qualify, agencies must be among the top 10 in terms of inbound group tourists and show the fastest growth rates. Eligible agencies must also host at least 3,000 tourists annually and provide tours in foreign languages.
The government department of the coastal province that has cities such as Fuzhou and Xiamen plans to boost inbound tourism through increased promotion, improved accessibility, added high-quality products, enhanced services, and strengthened support measures.
Additionally, Fujian is encouraging travel agencies to participate in major international tourism exhibitions. The province will provide subsidies of up to CNY600,000 to eligible agencies attending such events. To qualify for these subsidies, agencies must demonstrate annual overseas exhibition expenditures of at least CNY400,000 and achieve a minimum 15 percent annual growth in tourist numbers from the country or region where the exhibition was held.
