Hengtong Optic-Electric Unit to Supply Submarine Cables for Large CGN Offshore Wind Farm Project Hengtong Optic-Electric Unit to Supply Submarine Cables for Large CGN Offshore Wind Farm Project

(Yicai Global) June 6 -- Hengtong Optic-electric will provide submarine cables for a large-scale offshore wind farm project built by the China General Nuclear Power Group, CGN, in southeastern China's Guangdong province. It is one of the largest offshore wind farm projects approved by the central government, the company said.

Jiangsu Hengtong HV Power Cable System, the subsidiary of the Hengtong Optic-Electric, received the notification of award from the bidding center of the CGN, appointing it as the 220 kV submarine cable supplier of the 400,000-kilowatt offshore wind farm project in Yangjiang, with an estimated contract value of CNY331 million (USD52 million), said the Changshu-based cable manufacturer in a statement yesterday.

The project will help consolidate the company's leadership in the submarine cable market, enhance its brand influence and increase market share in the field of ultra-high voltage offshore submarine cables for offshore wind farms, the statement added.

Hengtong HV Power Cable System has won several bids in recent years to supply submarine cables for some offshore wind farm projects in Dalian, the northeastern Liaoning province, Tangshan, the northern Hebei province, Dafeng, East China's Jiangsu province, and Lingang new city near Shanghai.

China plans to invest USD100 billion in wind power projects by 2020 under a government plan to support clean energy.
