(Yicai Global) April 30 -- Profit at Huatai Securities, a leading Chinese brokerage, rose 3.9 percent in the first quarter of the year.

Net profit attributable to shareholders was CNY2.89 billion (USD409.5 million) in the three months ended March 31, the Nanjing-based company said in an earnings report released before the market closed today. Revenue gained 9.9 percent to CNY6.87 billion.

Shares of Huatai Securities [SHA:601688] jumped 2.8 percent to close at CNY18.14 (USD2.57), after earlier gaining as much as 3.2 percent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.3 percent.
