(Yicai Global) Nov. 1 -- A rural telecom firms in Missouri, US, has come out in support of Huawei in a filing to US regulators as it looks to use recently obtained government funds to purchase equipment from the Chinese communications giant.

Mark Twain Communications described the Shenzhen-based firm as "the most dependable and affordable option" for equipment in a filing with the US Federal Communications Commission.

The company had planned to spend USD3 that it received from the government's Connect America Fund Phase II (CAF II) auction on Huawei equipment and may have shut down its network if it can't make the purchase happen.

The filing is noteworthy because most government officials have stated that US telecom service providers should be prohibited from buying Huawei products. The FCC has also proposed stopping all TSPS, regardless of size, from using general service funds to buy equipment that may threaten national security.

Huawei supplies telecom apparatus to multiple US TSPs in rural regions and has won the support of many customers. It has been protesting US charges for several years. Tens of US rural TSPs including SI Wireless, Viaero, the United Telephone Association and Union Telephone have been using Huawei's products and have appealed to authorities not to bring in the sanctions.
