Huawei's New Gesture-Recognition Technology to Turn Hands Into Touchscreens Huawei's New Gesture-Recognition Technology to Turn Hands Into Touchscreens

(Yicai Global) Feb. 7 -- China's communications equipment giant Huawei Technologies Co. is prepared to introduce a new technology on its smart watches, through which users can project the content on the wearable device screen onto their hands and input information without touching it, news portal Sohu Technology reported yesterday.

Huawei's new innovative technology will use a unique method of gesture control on its smart watches. Users will be able to interact with their wearable devices without any physical touch. The company initially submitted a patent application for it in July 2016, but did not publish it until yesterday.

In its patent application to the World Intellectual Property Organization, Huawei named its new technology as "Input Method of Wearable Devices and Their Gesture Control." Users will be able to input information on their hands using fingers. It introduces a new technology that can relay ultrasonic or infrared signals from the devices.

It means users can input information on the back of their hands while the smart watches record their gestures. The information will be displayed if the user's hand faces the level sensor. Therefore, the technology can help solve the problem of interaction between users and small screens of their wearable devices.
