Huawei Rolls Out New Incentive System, Allows Workers to Earn Uncapped Commission Huawei Rolls Out New Incentive System, Allows Workers to Earn Uncapped Commission

(Yicai Global) Dec. 20 -- China's largest smartphone maker Huawei Technology Co., which is often criticized for overworking its staff, has unveiled a new incentive mechanism that will allow everyday employees to earn uncapped commission.

An internal document spreading online shows that the department responsible for selling smartphones under Huawei's Honor brand will adopt the new system, which will calculate commission based on sales volumes. As long as workers meet a minimum profit requirement, there will be no ceiling for their potential earnings.

The company also opted to pay bonuses quarterly instead of annually in hopes that this will encourage employees to sell more phones.

Huawei rolled out the Honor brand in 2013. It ranked first among domestic handsets in the first quarter, selling 10.5 million units to beat out competitors Xiaomi and Meizu, per data from Germany's largest market researcher GfK.
