(Yicai Global) Dec. 26 -- iFlytek, China's top voice recognition firm, has won the bidding for a smart education system worth nearly CNY1.6 billion (USD228.5 million) to be implemented in the city of Bengbu, eastern Anhui province, the company said in a statement today.

The value of the project amounts to a fifth of the intelligent voice technology firm's 2018 revenue. Earlier this week, it also secured a similar project worth CNY859 million with the educational bureau of a district in Qingdao, northeastern Shandong province.

The good news saw the Hefei, Anhui province-based firm's shares [SHE:002230] jump 5 percent during trading today to close 4.38 percent up at CNY35.54 (USD5).

iFlytek will supply Bengbu with a smart education system that will link primary and secondary schools in the city and provide information technology support and services, according to the statement.

iFlytek has been focusing on the smart education market in recent years. It uses artificial intelligence to provide students with high-quality, personalized learning resources and solutions that enable them to improve their academic performance. So far 25,000 schools across the country are using iFlytek's intelligent solutions.
