(Yicai) Aug. 21 -- The 27th Pet Fair Asia has officially kicked off in Shanghai, with smart and fashionable products taking the event by storm.
Exhibitors brought a wide range of innovative products, including the world’s first smartphone for pets, a smart feeder that teaches pets to play piano, another smart feeder equipped with re-identification technology, a remotely controlled cat teaser toy, and a companion robot dog.
The fair kicked off yesterday at the Shanghai New International Expo Center and will run throughout Aug. 24. Seventy percent of the visitors were youngsters on opening day, according to official data.

PetPhone supports two-way communication between pets and owners, playful voice interactions, artificial intelligence health monitoring, and more. With meter-level positioning accuracy, the device allows owners to set an electronic fence with a 50-to-200-meter radius and sends alerts if pets cross it.
PetPhone can recognize action commands and initiate video calls to pet owners, said uCloudlink Group, the developer of the product. The firm aims to release a second-generation PetPhone with video recording capabilities by the end of this year, and a more portable third-generation next year.

The device can also create fun, auto-edited short videos.
