(Yicai Global) Dec. 8 -- Chinese cities removed checkpoints along highways late yesterday after the country announced a nationwide loosening of Covid-19 restrictions on cross-regional travel. Passengers from other regions no longer need to take polymerase chain reaction tests when arriving at train stations.

China will not check negative PCR test results and health codes of people journeying between regions any longer, and people do not need to take tests when arriving in a new city, the State Council said yesterday. Both the Ministry of Transport and China State Railway Group issued documents on the same day making relevant changes.

Workers move fences onto a truck near a high-speed toll station in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. The fences had been used to separate and guide people arriving to take PCR tests.

There are no staff at a PCR test sampling site near the toll station. A car passes through unimpeded.

A staff member removes the fences for on-arrival PCR tests at Nanjingnan Railway Station in Jiangsu province.

Signs related to Covid-19 prevention and control have been removed at the north entrance of Beijingxi Railway Station.

Passengers are not required to show PCR test results or health codes when arriving at Guangzhounan Railway Station.
