(Yicai Global) Oct. 26 -- Sales of copyrights related to Japan's anime industry, including television, film and music, reached JPY767.6 billion (USD6.73 billion) in 2016. The US and China were the most active buyers of such rights, making 298 and 286 purchases, respectively, Qdaily cited the Japan Anime Association as saying yesterday.
The market scale of the country's animation industry reached JPY2.090 trillion (USD18.3 billion) last year, according to a survey conducted by the industry body, which comprises 100 Japanese domestic animation producers.
China is expected to replace the US as the largest buyer of Japanese copyrights over the coming years, driven by high demand among the country's online video platforms.
