(Yicai Global) Nov. 1 -- JD.com Inc.'s [NASDAQ:JD] sales of computer, communication and consumer electronics products hit CNY100 million within 24 seconds today, the first day of its Singles' Day Shopping event, which is typically celebrated on Nov. 11 every year.
Over CNY300 million worth of products had been sold within 105 seconds, Hu Shengli, vice president, said at the JD.com 3C Cultural and Travel Division Kick Off Conference.
JD.com is running major online and offline promotions for the shopping festival for the first time this year, with subsidies topping CNY3 billion (USD453.5 million). The deals will cover 1,640 mobile phones, computers, ebooks and other digital products, with mobile phones sold on JD.com all being price protected for 30 days.
JD.com's 3C cultural and travel division penned deals with Hewlett-Packard Co. [NYSE:HPQ], Samsung Electronics Co. [KRX:005930], CITIC Press Group, Finn Air Oyj [HEL:FIA1S] and hundreds of other brands to promote the sales event on and offline.
