(Yicai Global) Feb. 25 -- The former head of Chinese short-video platform owner Kuaishou Technology's content research institute has been detained allegedly due to accepting bribes.

The TikTok rival has confirmed that Zhao Danyang, ex-vice president, was detained last September, the Paper reported today. The Beijing-headquartered company didn't disclose details about why Zhao was arrested.

Li Lei and Xu Juan, Zhao’s subordinates at Kuaishou, were arrested on suspicion of long-term misuse of company property, the firm said in an email last November.

Zhao left Kuaishou by the end of 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. He had been appointed VP in February 2015. Before that, Zhao used to serve video platform Youku Tudou as its deputy editor-in-chief and content management director.

Zhao was last seen in the news when he attended the opening ceremony of Wuhan's Kuaishou multimedia research institute in August 2018.
