(Yicai) Dec. 31 -- The price of some Labubus dolls, the hit product made by Chinese toymaker Pop Mart International Group, has tumbled by up to 88 percent on resale platforms, mainly due to an increase in supply.

The resale price of the ID secret variety in this year's most popular Labubu collection, The Monsters Big Into Energy (Version 3), has plunged to CNY540 from a peak of CNY4,522 (USD77 from USD645) as of yesterday from June 14 after several restocks, according to data from used goods platform Poizon. The price had dropped to CNY2,433 after a large restock on June 18.

Pop Mart released The Monsters Big Into Energy (Version 3) collection at a price of CNY99 (USD14.15) per box in April. The box sold for an average of around CNY117 on resale sites over the past 30 days, peaking at CNY131 on Dec. 16, Poizon data showed.

On some used goods platforms, the price of several Labubus has even fallen below their original retail cost, prompting some scalpers to say on social media that they will stop buying the dolls.

The share price of Pop Mart [HKG: 9992] has also tumbled similarly to that of its hit toys, closing down 3 percent at HKD185 (USD23.77) today, bringing its fall to 46 percent since peaking at HKD339.80 on Aug. 26.
