(Yicai Global) April 10 -- The display unit of South Korean electronics giant LG has inked a cooperation deal with China's Tunghsu Optoelectronic Technology for the development and application of glass cover plates and new materials.

LG Display will work with Tunghsu on developing plates for cars, mobile terminals and smart home appliances, as well as new materials for photoelectric and flexible displays, the Beijing-based firm said in a statement.

LGD is a leading manufacturer of thin film transistor liquid crystal display panels, organic light emitting displays and flexible displays and affiliated with South Korea's LG Corporation. The Seoul-based company runs nine production lines and six back-end assembly plants in Korea, China and Poland, as well as operating sales units worldwide to effectively serve overseas markets.

The agreement with LGD brings Tunghsu more opportunities for further cooperation with LG, as well as international development and product promotion in overseas markets, the company added.

The cooperation will enhance Tunghsu's technical research, development and application of optoelectronic and flexible display materials, thereby strengthening its core competitiveness.
