The source of the virus is under investigation, Yicai Global learned from the local health commission, which is pulling out all the stops to trace and test contacts.

The patient Lu, a woman aged 69, unemployed, was admitted to a hospital yesterday with a body temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius and CT scan results showing characteristic scattered ground glass shadows in both lungs, Chengdu’s Pidu district said on its WeChat account today. Chengdu is carrying out epidemiological investigations, nucleic acid testing, environmental disinfection and onsite control measures now. The metropolis of over 16 million residents has also ordered all patients, contacts, medical workers and others who visited the hospital where the case emerged between 8.00 a.m. yesterday and 8.00 a.m. today to take a nucleic acid test today, as well as those who went to the patient’s residence from Nov. 23 to yesterday.

Chengdu’s Covid-19 cases have mainly originated from outside since the outbreak. It had reported 415 confirmed cases -- including 270 imports -- 382 hospital discharges and three deaths as of midnight.
