Mainland Stocks End at Post-June High, but Flag at the Finish

(Yicai Global) March 4 -- China's mainland stock markets closed at an eight-month apex today, boosted by the rebound last trading days warmed the investment, but the main gauges lost their leg power in the final stretch to fall off from today's high.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,027.58, up 1.12 percent with CNY481 billion (USD72 billion) changing hands, ebbing from its 3,090.8 high-water mark earlier in the day.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 2.4 percent to close at 9,384.4, turning over CNY 566 billion. The index went up to 9,567.15.

The ChiNext price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, gained 3.3 percent to 1,619.71 with CNY165 billion in turnover, and the index rose as much as 5.27 percent.
