Meituan Launches AI-Native Browser Tabbit(Yicai) June 10 -- Chinese lifestyle platform Meituan has launched the first iteration of its artificial intelligence-native browser Tabbit, exactly 100 days after its public beta test kicked off.
Tabbit 1.0 officially launched today, the Beijing-based company announced yesterday. “The release of Tabbit in 100 days indicates that this product has survived, and in a healthy way,” said Liu Jiong, head of the product’s development team.
Tabbit is an AI entry point in the form of a browser, equipped with multiple leading large models, and can automatically execute complex tasks across different software and web pages after users input their needs, Yicai learned.
The current browser form is relatively outdated, so Meituan is seizing the opportunities from the AI era, Liu noted, adding that the firm is committed to building an open skill ecosystem to enable browsers to evolve from a web page into an AI work entry point.
Tabbit evolved weekly based on user feedback, with over 100 new features added during the public beta testing. The success rate of agent tasks has jumped from 53 percent in March to 92 percent now. Tabbit’s average monthly token consumption per user reached 8.53 million in May.
From the perspective of function evolution, Tabbit adds a new memory function that can continuously record user preferences, backgrounds, and other important information.
Meituan’s research and development team has striven to launch new AI products and actively expanded cooperation externally. It teamed up with WeChat to develop and test the WeChat AI ecosystem, allowing its users to access services through WeChat AI Agent and have a smarter and more convenient AI-powered life service experience.
Tencent’s super-app WeChat announced on June 8 that it would provide developers with access to the WeChat AI ecosystem, allowing users to use AI mini programs through the WeChat AI Agent.
