(Yicai Global) Jan. 5 -- Chinese personal mobile medical equipment startup Ekagee recently raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in seed funding from American venture capital firm SOSV III LP, internet media outlet Lie Yunwang reported.

The group will spend the funds on upgrading and optimizing products as well as promotion, said Dou Guozhen, co-founder of the Chengdu-based group.

Ekagee develops wearable monitoring devices for cardiovascular diseases that integrate mobile communication, Internet of Things and intelligent diagnosis technologies. Its gadgets allow users to check their heart condition, detect diseases in advance and monitor the effectiveness of medication, which they give feedback on.

The company sells and leases smart equipment. It plans to generate revenue by providing paid professional medical services and offering Big Data products such as heart health and electrocardiograph databases.
