(Yicai Global) Nov. 21 -- The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved the registration of an electrocardiogram analysis and diagnosis system based on artificial intelligence which was made by China's Lepu Medical Technology.
The AI-ECG machine is the first of its kind from China to receive approval in the US, and it's the first Chinese new-gen automatic ECG analyzer to go commercial, the Beijing-based equipment maker said in a statement yesterday.
The device's diagnostic accuracy for a variety of heart diseases, including arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat) and myocardial ischemia (reduced blood flow to the heart), is more than 95 percent -- a similar level to ECG medical experts, the firm added.
The system aims to help doctors at large hospitals work more efficiently to reduce their workload and enable smaller clinics without cardiologists make quick and accurate electrocardiogram analyses, according to the statement said. It can also be used in homes to conduct real-time monitoring via wearable devices to collect data for medical use.
