New Chinese Robots Go on Display at 10th China Shanghai Int'l Tech Fair New Chinese Robots Go on Display at 10th China Shanghai Int'l Tech Fair

(Yicai) June 13 -- Many Chinese firms have exhibited their new robots at the ongoing 10th China Shanghai International Technology Fair, regarded as a pacesetter in technology trade, aiming to achieve breakthroughs in use scenarios from research and development.

A special dual-feet robot developed by Shanghai-based Feiyun completed its journey to attend the fair, which kicked off early yesterday, by walking alongside visitors to a stand at the H1 pavilion from the square outside the exhibition hall.

This is the first show for Feiyun's humanoid robot, Chief Executive Zhang Yongwen told Yicai. Sales are scheduled to launch in August, with the robot mainly used as an at-home companion and for elder care, education, exhibition guides, and other scenarios, Zhang said.

Feiyun has received dozens of orders for its new humanoid robots, with orders likely to reach around 100 by the end of this year, Zhang noted.

Thanks to the development of generative artificial intelligence technologies, there have been a surging number of breakthroughs in humanoid robots' workability in recent years, Zhang said. The market popularization of humanoid robots is becoming easier with lower production costs and increased safety, while sales will likely soar next year, Zhang added.

Besides humanoid robots entering people's daily lives, various drones are also being highlighted at the fair.

Compared with DG Intelligence's first-generation drone shown at the same event eight years ago, the latest exhibits have an almost 11-fold gain in battery life and a big increase in load capacities, founder He Zhengdao said to Yicai. Besides drones, the firm also showcases other unmanned products such as inspection robots and underwater robots, as well as other new products, forming unmanned smart product lineups across land, sea, and air, He noted.

Drones' use scenarios have reached several hundred, He said. DG Intelligence is also enjoying a stable increase in unmanned products' sales, with more notable growth in exports to overseas markets, including the Middle East and Central Asia, He pointed out.

Chinese and US robot firms lead the world in mastering AI tech, Zhang noted. The difficulty still lies in finding more use scenarios to realize uninterrupted product updates and iterations through smart training, Zhang added.

Feiyun's generic edition robots are mainly available in China, Zhang said, noting that the company will make the robots iteration-based products according to clients' needs and gradually introduce them overseas.
