North Korean Province Hopes More Exchanges, Cooperation With Neighboring Liaoning in China North Korean Province Hopes More Exchanges, Cooperation With Neighboring Liaoning in China

(Yicai Global) May 14 -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea's North Pyongan province hopes more exchanges and cooperation with Liaoning province in northeast China as both provinces form the border between the two countries.

North Pyongan, one of the nine provinces in North Korea, expects increased relations with Liaoning, said Kim Neungo, provincial chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, WPK, as cited by China's state-owned Xinhua News Agency.

Kim made these remarks during his meeting with Li Jinjun, China's ambassador to North Korea, who visited Sinuiju, capital of North Pyongan. Li, accompanied by a Chinese delegation, visited Sinuiju from May 11 to May 12 to share ideas on strengthening the official and private exchanges between the two countries.

The party and the government of North Korea unswervingly promote good relations between Pyongyang and Beijing, said Kim. This year, the two countries paid high-level visits to each other and the heads of state of both countries reached a series of important consensuses in two historic meetings, he added. Under such circumstances, North Pyongan province expects to strengthen cooperation with Liaoning province to implement the decisions taken by the leaders of both countries, he said.

The people of North Pyongan province make arduous efforts to achieve the decisions of the Third Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea held last month, Kim said. Committed to the party's principle of attaching importance to science and based on the characteristics of its economic structure, North Pyongan province encourages reinvigorating the production of enterprises and actively promotes construction of several new projects, he added.

Kim's remarks come at a time when the Korean peninsula and affairs witness a series of diplomatic activity. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with China's President Xi Jinping in Dalian, a port city in Liaoning, last week and in Beijing in March. Kim will meet US President Donald Trump in Singapore next month.
