(Yicai Global) Jan. 10 -- China's ByteDance has put an end to the latest security problem that risked leaking personal information about TikTok video application users, according to the parent.

TikTok's security team has gotten rid of the fault in its latest edition of the app, The Paper reported yesterday, citing the Beijing-based parent.

Hackers could break in, manipulate user data, and steal it, the New York Times reported on Jan. 8, citing a report from Israeli cybersecurity firm Check Point.

TikTok became one of the most downloaded apps on Apple's US App Store early last year. In 2019, it had been downloaded more times than Instagram and Snapchat globally, according to App Annie. TikTok is particularly popular among teens in India and Japan.
