(Yicai Global) July 5 -- Orient Wires & Cables will lay out its first underwater cable for wind power generation project in southern China's Guangdong province, which could provide more than 82,000 homes electricity for a month.
The project will give the Orient Wires & Cables revenue of CNY590 million (USD89 million), the Ningbo-based firm said in a statement, adding that its performance in a state-owned firm's project will have a positive impact on the company's future operating results.
China Three Gorges began developing the 30-meter deep Yangjiang offshore project last November, and it is scheduled to be completed next year. The plant is expected to generate about 827 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. A US household spends about 10,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month.
