(Yicai Global) Aug. 25 -- PetroChina Co.'s [SHA:601857; HKG:0857] net profit rose USD1.82 billion from a year ago to USD1.9 billion (CNY12.68 billion) in the first half on higher crude oil prices, its half-year results show.

PetroChina's revenue grew 32 percent annually to USD146 billion in the first six months of this year. The company processed 475.2 million barrels of oil in the first half, down 1.7 percent annually, and its production of refined oil dropped 0.3 percent to 43.28 million tons, 17.15 million tons of which were gasoline, an increase of 2.3 percent annually.

Brent crude oil prices averaged USD51.77 a barrel in the first half, up 30 percent annually, while West Texas Intermediate crude averaged USD49.94 a barrel, an increase of 26 percent from a year ago, the firm's half-year report said.

PetroChina sold 57.08 million tons of crude oil in the first six months, up 7.2 percent annually, with an average price of USD353.82 per ton, an increase of 39.6 percent from a year earlier. It sold 983,320 tons of natural gas, up 14 percent annually, at an average price of USD178.56 per ton, an increase of 6.3 percent. Its other key products also witnessed a rise in sales volume and average price in the first half.

PetroChina expects global oil prices to continue to fluctuate at mid- to low-levels in the second half and increased geopolitical risks will create price uncertainty.
