(Yicai Global) Jan. 10 -- PowerChina International Group, which designs and builds water conservancy and power generation facilities, is undertaking a USD1.9 billion project in the Nigerian city of Lagos.
The Beijing-based firm has already signed on for the three year project, its parent Power Construction said in a statement yesterday evening, without disclosing details about funding or when it will begin.
PowerChina will be tasked with land reclamation, building toll roads and infrastructure for water and electricity generation, and the environmental protection of a 490 hectare island in Lagos, which is also the name of the state the city is located in. The firm will also lay almost 9.8 kilometers of roads and bridges to link the island with the mainland and the Lekki Peninsula.
