(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- E-commerce platform Ozon, known as Russia’s Amazon.com, announced yesterday that it will open a China headquarters office in Shenzhen and plans to attract more than 100,000 Chinese sellers by 2024 and increase their turnover 10-fold, news website eEastday reported.
The first task is to remove the barriers for Chinese vendors to enter the Russian market, and improve platform services so that Ozon becomes the main channel for Chinese goods sold in Russia, the report yesterday cited Ozon China President Simon Huang as saying.
Ozon consumers are already regular buyers of goods from China. On Ozon Global, the company’s international business unit, about 90 percent of its products come from Chinese sellers, with more than 10,000 active sellers. Turnover for Chinese vendors on the platform has been surging, with the gross merchandise volume in the third quarter of 2022 four times that of the same period last year.
Ozon Global has already launched an integrated logistics service between China and Russia, halving the overseas fulfillment time. It allows Chinese merchants to ship from almost any province in China, and Russian buyers can collect their goods at more than 23,000 pick-up points across the country.
Ozon Global has helped more than 12,000 sellers from 45 countries, including China, Turkey, Belarus, India, South Korea and Israel, sell their products to Russian consumers.
