(Yicai Global) May 28 -- Sam's Club, which entered China's mainland 24 years ago, has taken just two months to start building what should become its biggest Chinese outlet in one of Shanghai's bonded areas, scheduled to open next year.

The US members-only retailer has begun constructing the outlet in an area of 700,000-square meters in northeastern Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone after signing a related deal in March, Shanghai Observer reported. The venue will have catering and entertainment facilities, as well as a smart parking lot for 1,100 cars.

Sam's Club, which already has more than 2.3 million members in China, opened its first Shanghai store in 2010.
