(Yicai Global) July 14 -- The second Global Economic Development and Security Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia will be held from Oct. 29 to 31.
The forum will take place in Changsha, China’s Hunan province, Li Baodong, secretary-general of the BFA, announced yesterday.
The second GEDS, co-organized by the BFA and the Hunan government, will host more than 30 events with 3,000 attendees expected, including those from the worlds of politics, industry, and business.
The forum will go on promoting international cooperation in economic development and security, said Chairman Zeng Weixiong. It will push guests to explore how to avoid or minimize geopolitical impacts on the regional economy, seek solutions for global economic development and security-related issues, and do its best to translate findings into usable solutions, Zeng added.
Global development and shared security will be the main themes. This year's GEDS will have over 20 sub-forums focusing on international and forward-looking topics in the era of artificial intelligence-generated content, including sustainable development and risk management, trade risk prevention and control, regional economic development, and food security.
The GEDS serves the world, Asia, China, and Hunan, with participants from governments, internationally renowned firms, global organizations, and envoys in China, Zhao Song, executive director of the GEDS organizing committee, told Yicai Global. It builds a platform for exchange and communication to allow the world and Hunan to learn about each other, facilitates business opportunities, and helps build industrial chains, Zhao noted.
The BFA launched the GEDS to build a major international forum and a dialogue platform for political and business leaders to discuss, coordinate, and balance economic development and security. The first GEDS was held in Changsha in October 2021.
