(Yicai) Oct. 10 -- Seres Group's shares rose after the car production partner of Huawei Technologies said it has linked arms with the cloud computing unit of TikTok owner ByteDance to develop embodied technology and promote its application in the auto industry.
Seres [SHA: 601127] closed 4.8 percent higher at CNY167.67 (USD23.54) a share today. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.1 percent.
Seres' unit inked a deal with Volcano Engine to integrate artificial intelligence technology with embodied intelligence and advance the application of embodied AI robotics in the auto sector, the Chongqing-based parent firm announced late yesterday.
Seres and Volcano Engine will team up on projects related to decision-making, control, and human-machine augmentation technologies for intelligent robots, the carmaker noted. The pair aims to coordinate tech development and application scenario validation to meet demand for digital and smart upgrades in the auto ecosystem, it added.
Volcano Engine will leverage its technological advantages in language, vision, multimodal capabilities, and general AI models to provide intelligent algorithms and computing power support for relevant projects, while Seres will utilize its industrial strengths to promote their application and implementation, the latter pointed out.
The cross-industry collaboration between Seres and Volcano Engine allows them to leverage their respective strengths, co-creating a new ecosystem for AI applications, the carmaker pointed out, adding that the alliance is beneficial for the commercialization and scalable operation of its embodied intelligence business.
Volcano Engine focuses on cloud computing and AI services. It operates as ByteDance's enterprise-level tech service platform, offering technological capabilities and application tools to external businesses to help advance their AI transformation.
Seres grew from an obscure, small private company to one of China's leading smart electric vehicle manufacturers after the launch of Aito, a premium EV brand co-developed with Huawei.
