(Yicai) Dec. 29 -- The Chinese billionaire founder of global investment firm Shanda Investment Group said he is building an artificial intelligence company and developing a messaging application, pledging to make "everything open source" and bear full responsibility.

Tanka is backed by Shanda and aims to develop a communication platform that integrates long-term AI memory functions, Chen Tianqiao, who also co-founded the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute, announced on Dec. 27.

The core product will be the Tanka messaging app, which utilizes proprietary Memgraph technology to remember and learn from past conversations, providing real-time context-aware insights and proactive follow-up features, Chen pointed out.

"I will unreservedly disclose the core process of the AI-native company Tanka that I am building firsthand, including our underlying logic, operational blueprint, and the pivotal debates that determine success or failure," Chen noted, adding that he is willing to "assume full responsibility for any potential failure."

In the era where AI serves as a "super tool," human value lies in active choice and accountability, he said. Although AI is powerful in execution, it cannot bear the ultimate consequences nor engage in "irrational creation," so humans have built an irreplaceable defense line, he added.

"The essence of AI is computation, while the essence of humanity is strategy," Chen pointed out. "Choice and responsibility are humanity's final line of defense."

Only when humans make choices and take responsibility can AI's computation truly transform from "data processing" into "commercial value," Chen said, adding that he refers to this act of human accountability as "authorization."

The success of Elon Musk is "the rise of the super individual," according to Chen. "Musk does only two things: making highly ambitious choices that point toward a seemingly impossible direction and taking full responsibility by risking everything and bearing the cost of all failures. "The only competition humanity needs to engage in is who has the more stable fulcrum and who makes the more precise exertion," Chen noted.
