(Yicai Global) Sept. 13 -- At yesterday's iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X showcase event, Atli Mar Sveinsson, the CEO of Directive Games - a Shanghai-based studio took to the stage to announce its ARKit-powered game The Machines, the world's first multiplayer co-op augmented reality game.

The game pits two rival forces, dubbed 'rebels' and 'dominators' , who bear an aesthetic resemblence to Space Marine cadres from Warhammer 40K doing battle in a top down perspective. Players can wage war on their friends or play with, or against players from anywhere in the world.

Employing the Unreal Engine, players can manipulate the beautifully 1.2 million polygon-rendered action and see campaigns unfold in a tabletop game-like experience. The Machines will be available on Apple's App store this month.

ARKit could be the next Unreal in developing and coding terms and The Machines shows off its immersive qualities to their best effect.

Atli Mar Sveinsson was one of the winners of our inaugural awards, Yicai Brilliant 20 - China's Best International Entrepreneurs earlier this year.
