Shanghai Disney Resort to Prep for Import Expo With Local Souvenirs Shanghai Disney Resort to Prep for Import Expo With Local Souvenirs

(Yicai Global) Oct. 30 -- Shanghai Disney Resort has come up with a 'Mickey in Shanghai' collection of souvenirs ahead of the China International Import Expo which will gather hundreds of thousands of visitors to the eastern Chinese city.

The resort has released a group of items inspired by Shanghai's cultural sights, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the historical Yuyuan Garden and the local stone-gate Shikumen architecture. Consumers can buy the merchandise from the theme park or at the flagship store in downtown Shanghai.

The CIIE will be held at the National Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov. 5 to 10, and the city is expecting participants from 130 countries and more than 2,800 firms.

In November, Shanghai Disney Resort will also host the World's Biggest Mouse Party, where visitors can enjoy themed events, commemorative merchandise and birthday treats, the theme park and hotel operator said in a statement today.

Shanghai Disneyland was ranked as the eighth largest theme park worldwide, becoming the first and only Chinese representative in the top 10, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report in 2017.

"Results at our international operations continued to improve led by growth at Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disney Resort," said Christine McCarthy, chief executive for The Walt Disney Company, at an earnings call for the fourth quarter in 2017. "Shanghai Disney's operating income growth was due to higher attendance and, to a lesser extent, lower marketing costs compared to the fourth quarter last year. "
