(Yicai Global) Feb. 25 -- As the six-month-long Dubai Expo enters its final month, the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipality, in partnership with the SMG Documentary Center and the World Expo Museum, is organizing a thematic promotion of Shanghai in the United Arab Emirates from Feb. 26 to March 31.
As part of this promotion, the Arabic version of a documentary series The Making of Shanghai will be broadcast on Alraddar, a leading video site in the UAE, and will be simultaneously promoted at the World Expo Museum Pavilion located in the Expo Site.
During the promotion, visitors to the Dubai Expo and the peoples of the Gulf region will have the opportunity to watch the documentary and learn more about Shanghai, especially its ecological achievements and economic growth since its opening and development as a port. The series aims to convey the rich history of the east China metropolis, and tell how local people devote themselves to the making of the city.
Shanghai and Dubai are sister cities and both share the experience of hosting the World Expo. The successful 2010 Shanghai Expo left a strong mark in Expo history. The theme Better City, Better Life has become the doctrine of Shanghai's urban development, which continues to create a better environment and a stage for people to enrich their lives.
Meanwhile, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Expo Dubai, under the theme of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, is the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East.
It has received widespread attention and boasts the participation of 192 countries and is expected to attract 25 million visitors from around the world. The WEM Pavilion not only presents the Expo history to visitors, but also serves as a platform to introduce Shanghai as an Expo city to the world.
The Making of Shanghai, an eight-part documentary produced by Shanghai Media Group, will debut in Dubai on Alraddar. With objective and solid history, vivid and powerful stories, and tense characters, the series showcases the city's spirit of openness, excellence, wisdom and humility, as well as its characters of openness, innovation and tolerance.
The new English version of the city's image film Shanghai, a City for Everyone will be broadcast simultaneously.
The documentary has multi-language versions, including English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese and Thai.
