Shanghai has made 5 more rental housing plots available, all located in the downtown area to add to the 25 allotted since July.

The 5 plots cover a total area of 163,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 448,100 square meters, and three of them located in the Pudong New Area, one in Changning District, the rest in the Hongqiao business district.

The total rental land area is now 963,200 square meters, with a total construction area of 2 million square meters.

The 25 plots are mainly concentrated in 5 districts, with Pudong New Area having 14, more than any other district with a total area of 542,100 square meters while Songjiang District came in second with three, with a total area of 104,000 square meters.

More rental housing will be made available in Shanghai in the future. In addition, some commercial properties will be converted to rental land.
