(Yicai Global) May 9 -- The 2019 Shanghai Science Festival that starts on May 15 will hold over 1,000 exhibits and other activities, including international art and technology shows and a series of events themed 'Approaching the Fortune Global 500.'

The festival seeks to popularize science education, the city government announced today at a press conference.

Founded in 1991, the festival is China's first such government-run science event. This year's will run to May 26.

The public can visit over 300 popular educational science bases without charge or at a discount, with science and technology innovation bases accessible, including more than 100 key labs and engineering technology research centers. Viewers can watch live demonstrations of superconducting magnetic levitation and superconducting energy storage from close up at the key laboratory of high-temperature superconductivity and explore the spatial cognition ability of a mouse at the key laboratory of new drug development.

The festival will also showcase outstanding popular science films. The Shanghai Science and Technology Cinema and the Shanghai Film Museum will screen the latest high-definition scientific educational documentaries and revamped classics.

Scientists will present their scientific and technological achievements to the public at the event.

College students will meet with scientists and engineers from Fortune Global 500 firms to allow them face-to-face communication to better plan their career futures.
