(Yicai Global) Nov. 26 -- Alibaba Group Holding's Tmall Global has kicked off cold chain logistics for imported goods, enabling Chinese consumers to buy foreign plant-based meat through the e-commerce platform for the first time.

Consumers can now find Omnipork, a product that Hong Kong-based Green Monday's unit makes from soybean, peas, and shiitake mushrooms, on Tmall Global, China Daily reported. The product costs CNY28 (USD4) per 230 grams.

Chinese consumers are increasingly interested in buying imported fresh foods, a person in charge of Tmall Global's food business told the same source. The size of China's cold chain e-commerce market is expected to expand by 40 percent to exceed CNY280 billion (USD39.8 billion) this year, according to data from iiMedia Research.

Buyers can also find Swedish Oatly's vegetarian ice cream, Japanese Royce' Confect's raw chocolate, and US Real California Milk's dairy products on the Hangzhou-based firm's platform that delivers as fast as in 24 hours. The array of products will be expanded to cheese, butter, and frozen goods in the future.
