(Yicai Global) March 11 -- Music copyright distributor VFine Music has penned a deal that will allow mobile app maker Meitu to use the former's tracks in all of its software.

The deal includes Meitu's BeautyCam and image-editing app MeituPic, tech news outlet 36Kr cited VFine as saying in a statement today, without disclosing how much money was trading hands.

Founded in 2008, Meitu started as a software developer making apps targeting Asian consumers who wanted to artificially improve their appearance, and has since gone on to start making its own smartphones geared towards taking selfies and even issuing loans. The company had over 308 million monthly users around the midpoint of last year, up 0.6 percent from a six months earlier, according to its 2019 semi-annual report.

VFine set up shop in 2015 in Beijing and has already signed more than 3,000 musicians in over 50 countries. It owns the rights to over 500,000 original tracks and licenses them to more than 3,000 buyers, the firm claims on its website.
