(Yicai Global) Feb. 8 -- Leading Chinese intelligent voice firm Iflytek Co. will spearhead the development of a new technology park in the western musicality of Chongqing, which is set to become a hotbed of smart sector activity.

The Anhui-based artificial intelligence will be the main resident at China Smart Valley Technology Park, which aims to attract smart technology clusters worth some CNY200 billion (USD31.78 billion) by 2025, the firm's vice-president Xu Yulin said at a press briefing.

The park has already attracted more than 20 intelligent industry projects worth over CNY20 billion, and Iflytek will support the development of six projects initially, in the fields of AI schooling, smart tourism, smart finance, smart government services, smart education and smart judiciary, Xu added.

Iflytek, well-known for its real-time translation devices, will set up a school to teach students about AI, in cooperation with Chongqing University of Post and Telecommunications. Enrollment will commence in May in time for classes to start this September. The total number of students is expected to reach 2,000, including 600 to 900 graduate students.

China Smart Valley will be home to 30 well-known intelligent tech firms, 30 smart data platforms and 20 national research institutions, plans state. The facility aims to cultivate some 200,000 high-end talents for the smart industry.

Iflytek, founded by the University of Science and Technology of China, is mainly engaged in the development of intelligent voice software and chips, and has a market share of over 80 percent in China.
