(Yicai) June 21 -- Voyah is collaborating with Huawei Technologies to make first class cars but the new energy vehicle maker will not outsource all the work to the Chinese tech giant and will also contribute significantly, the chief executive officer of the firm under Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor Group, recently told Yicai.
Voyah and Huawei linked arms in January to develop a sport utility vehicle called Zhiyin that is equipped with Shenzhen-based Huawei's smart cockpit and intelligent driving system. The tie-up will enhance Voyah's smart driving capabilities this and next year, Lu said. The partnership is moving forward smoothly and meetings are held each month to discuss progress.
Voyah has three electric car models on the market, namely its all-electric sedan Passion, its extended-range SUV FREE, and Dreamer, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle multi-purpose vehicle. The Wuhan-based company’s sales doubled in the first five months from the year before to 24,900 autos. But it is still a long way from its annual target of 100,000 units.
Apart from lowering prices, price wars have not had much effect, Lu said. Voyah will outcompete its rivals through quality, technological innovations and management optimizations so as to continuously increase efficiency, he added.
Voyah is expanding its overseas footprint rapidly. By 2026, the company plans to have a presence in all European countries and will have entered markets in Central Asia, Middle East, and Central and South America, Lu said. Voyah aims to be a multinational corporation so it will not let headwinds in the EU, such as new import levies, slow it down.
