(Yicai Global) March 9 -- Chinese internet firm Xiaomi has closed its first and only store in the United Kingdom in order to focus on growth in Western Europe, according to tech news outlet Android Authority.

The Beijing-based firm shut the shop, which opened in the London Westfield shopping center in 2018, last week, according to the report. A Xiaomi spokesperson told Android Authority that the move was a response to rapid growth in Western Europe.

Xiaomi has also closed its Twitter account for the store and the mall has removed the shop from its online directory.

British consumers will still be able to buy Xiaomi products on the firm's online store or through other official channels, such as telecoms carrier Vodafone, which offers contract deals on Xiaomi handsets.

The company entered the UK on Nov. 8, 2018, the same day it opened the London Westfield store where it sold the Xiaomi 8 Pro, Redmi 6A, Mi Bracelet 3 and Mi Electric Scooter.
